Blog eight: Life in 2040

The year is 2040 and I am a college freshman. I wake up to my hollographic alarm clock that projects the time onto the ceiling of my room and plays my favorite techno tunes. Then my cell phone rings and I open it to see a hollographic screen showing me a list of all the things I was planning to do today, then they screen flashes and changes to a page showing all the current news headlines and realistic television program showing me all the latest fashion trends. The people on my screen are dressed in outfits composed of metalic looking colors, and neon colors. The fabric of the clothing apears to be soft and silk-like . The outfits are ever skimpier then they were in 2010 , and all the outfits for girls seem to resemble a bra and a pair of underwear attatched to each other by stringy tattered fabric. I close my phone and walk downstairs to my living room . The living room walls are covered with mirrors and the ceiling consists of multiple televisions that you watch from flat bed-like couches. I walk outside and get into my hover-craft , I get stuck in air traffic and deside to do things the old fashioned way and use my dads old car. Im driving the only car on the road and still make it to school late. The school is very technologically advanced and every student has a touch screen key board and a hollographic computer monitor at their desks. I sit down in history class and learn about the first black president we had back in 2010 and how bad the economy was during his term as president. I could care less about this information because the economy is fine now . We started using paper coins that were worth as much as dollar bills because they are small, thin, and easier to carry. When going to the cafeteria for lunch , the lunch ladies hand you a metal tray with different sections. Inside the lunch room there are trays surrounding the room and they are filled with tubes. Each tube contains a different food and there are a variety of different tubes. The food inside the tubes is in a paste form similar to toothpaste and it makes eating alot easier. Each tube is filled with the nutrients and vitamins you will need for the day, no matter which meal you choose. When school is over i return to my house and do my homework on a computer similar to the ones at school. Then my family and i grab tubes of food from the kitchen , eat , and then go upstairs to our rooms to go to sleep. My bed has something you pull down over your head, It looks like one of the hair dryers from a 2010 beaty salon. I pull the dome shaped object over my head and It fills with a safe gas that puts me to sleep instantly.

The Internet:A Clear and Present Danger? Question one

I believe that the examples Cleaver lists in the opening of her essay violate our civil liberties. However it would also violate our civil liberties if legislation was passed to make these types of behavior illegal. Although passing legislation to make these acts illegal would make the internet a little bit safer , it would still violate our civil liberties if the government started looking for people who commit these acts. If legislation was passed to make these acts illegal it may cause the police to try and trick people into commiting these acts online so that the police are aware of them commiting these illegal acts. For example when cops pretend to be thirteen year old girls to get sexual predators talking to them until they can get the predator to meet up with them. This is all so they can catch sexual predators and arrest them , but just like the sexual predator the cops are also pretending to be something their not. People should just become a little bit smarter when it comes to the internet. People should not put any information they dont want stolen on the internet and they should not buy anything off of websites they dont trust unless the website has a guarantee that you will recieve your purchase. If you dont want to see pornography dont look it up online and if a software vendor creates software they should be able to restrict people from using it .If your a good parent you should watch the sites your children are going on and block chat rooms so your children don't start talking to pedophiles, and everyone should learn not to talk to strangers. The list is a very effective way of beginning the essay. The list at the beginning of the essay makes people aware of these internet issues before they are explained.
